Commonly found precision machined parts made of aluminum alloy materials in the market primarily consist of aluminum-magnesium alloy and aluminum oxide. The price difference between the two is nearly one-third. Although the appearance of aluminum oxide and aluminum-magnesium alloy materials may seem similar, consumers may find it challenging to distinguish between them. However, they can make judgments based on their feel, water stains, and other aspects. Experts indicate that aluminum-magnesium alloy materials are relatively heavier, have a smoother surface, are less prone to showing water stains, and possess good toughness; whereas aluminum oxide materials have a rough surface, are prone to blackening, and show water stains easily.

1. Beware of stainless steel turning into "rusty iron"

Many businesses, when promoting stainless steel precision-machined parts, use stainless iron as a substitute, which means they incorporate a significant amount of iron into the stainless steel material, resulting in a price difference of nearly two times. Taking a towel rack as an example, the average price of stainless steel material is 200 yuan per piece, while the price of stainless iron is only 70 yuan per piece. On the surface, the two are essentially identical, but the stainless steel material has a brighter appearance. Over time, the surface of stainless iron tends to darken and rust.

2. Use silver mirror in the bathroom

According to the introduction, the commonly used mirrors in home decoration are mainly divided into two types: ordinary mirrors and silver mirrors. The price difference between the two is about 30%. The market price of silver mirrors is on average 80 yuan to 90 yuan per square meter, while ordinary mirrors are only 50 yuan per square meter, and their quality is also quite different. The main factor causing the price difference between the two is the material used. The back of silver mirrors is first coated with mercury and then painted; while the back of ordinary mirrors is plated with aluminum and then painted, which greatly reduces waterproof and anti-fog effects. At the same time, ordinary mirrors tend to turn red around the frame when exposed to water, and the paint surface is prone to peeling off.

The major factor affecting the quality of waterproofing works is waterproof coating. According to reports, waterproof coatings are mainly divided into two types: water-based and polyurethane. Currently, water-based waterproof coatings are more commonly used in home decoration. There are mainly four types: waterproofing agent directly mixed with cement, waterproof coating film without main agent, rigid waterproof coating film with main agent, and flexible coating film with main agent. When the waterproofing agent is mixed with cement, it cannot achieve waterproofing effect, which is more common in civil engineering.
